• ...our daily life in Shanghai...

Sherry and Cal

Living the “expat life” means that you have to pretty much start over every time you move to a new location. New job, new home, new culture, new friends… it can be really tough at times. Perhaps the most sensitive issue is finding friends you naturally connect with. Cultivating deeper friendships can be hard enough when you live in one place, let alone when you’re relocating frequently. But, when you do find true friends, you cherish them because they can make so many of life’s other challenges seem easier. It didn’t take long for us to realize that Cal and Sherry were those kind of friends. Besides being downright awesome, they’ve reached out to us, opened our eyes to a much more enjoyable side of Shanghai, lent sympathetic ears when we encountered frustrations, and are so much fun to be around! We are incredibly thankful for their friendship and we are so thrilled these two have found one another- they are perfect together! We were honored to document their beautiful day, and still have warm fuzzies from having been welcomed so warmly into their wedding celebration!

Sherry and Cal’s balmy beach wedding was simply wonderful! Close friends and family gathered at the Chateau Kenting Resort on the southern coast of Taiwan. With toes in the silky sand, guests enjoyed Cal and Sherry’s heartwarming ceremony, just as the sun began to sink into the horizon. The celebration lasted late into the night, with dancing, sparklers and all sorts of enthusiastic merriment!

Sherry was the most stunning bride… even in her curlers!

Taking a few moments to cool down before the ceremony… it was HOT out there!

Cal and Sherry had a life-sized cut-out made from their engagement portrait session- how cool is that?!

Cute little Hailey was NOT interested in walking down the aisle by herself!

Moving further east we’ve discovered that personal space tends to shrink…;)

Right as Cal and Sherry were announced as husband and wife, a golden sunbeam burst through the clouds. It was magical!

The newlyweds played this hilarious game to see if the groom could blindly identify his new bride…

CONGRATULATIONS, Cal and Sherry! You are such a fabulous couple and we couldn’t be more excited for you! Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter and adventure together! xoxo

Ty and Francis Sneak Peek

Had so much fun last weekend taking engagement portraits for our dear friends, Ty and Francis. Aren’t they the cutest?! Lots more to come!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAL!!!

A little sneak peek in honor of the birthday boy! Happy birthday, buddy! Lots of love to you and your beautiful bride! xo

I guess the look I’m known best for is ‘Blue Steel.’

And then there’s ‘Ferrari’ and ‘Le Tigre’… Le Tigre’s a lot softer, it’s a little more of a… catalog look. I use it for footwear sometimes.

Photo-bombing of the worst kind…

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you… the SPEEDO-BOMB!

Poor guy. Immortalized in his banana hammock forever and all eternity…;)

More from Sherry and Cal’s beautiful wedding in the coming weeks. I’ll do my best to minimize the speedos!

Final Dubai Portraits

Nearly a year later, and here is our final Dubai portrait session. I can’t believe so much time has passed. It seems like only yesterday we were seeking out shady spots in the sticky heat at Madinat Jumeirah…

I was absolutely thrilled to photograph my dear friend Kellie’s family! How do I even begin to describe Kellie? She’s nothing short of a wonder woman! Driven, passionate, hilarious, strong, inspirational, dependable, encouraging, wildly creative, and one of the most thoughtful and generous individuals to walk this planet!!! Seriously, I have no idea how this woman accomplishes everything she does- and she ALWAYS puts others first! There are very few individuals who care for others and give as tirelessly as Kellie. I couldn’t even begin to count all of the thoughtful gestures she extended to me during our years working together at ASD. Our friendship first formed over our love of free fonts and all things crafty, but we quickly found we shared countless similarities and interests. Kellie’s joyful spirit brightened my days in Dubai, and I am truly, truly blessed to call her a friend.

Such a lovely family! Sadly, we were missing beautiful Christina, who was back in the states.

Spunky man Matthew was keeping us all entertained!
